  • Lee R. Baker, D.V.M.

    Dr. Baker founded the East Ventura Animal Hospital in 1981. He is currently the hospital director and owner.

    Dr. Baker's wife is a licensed medical technologist and  the hospital bookkeeper. They have 2 daughters, Rebecca is a USC (BA) graduate and Elisabeth WSU (BA) and Portland State (BS and MS) graduate.

    Dr. Baker has 4 Cats (Watson, Sid, Fiddy and Sasha) and a Chicken named Red.

    His professional interests include surgery, internal medicine and practice management.

    In his spare time he enjoys gardening, his Chevy Camaro, and especially spending time with his grandchildren


    Dr. Baker received Bachelor and Master of Science in Biology from The University of Nevada of Las Vegas (UNLV) and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University (WSU) Go Cougs!
  • J. Elaine Fowell, D.V.M.

    Dr. J. Elaine Fowell has lived in Ventura since 1986. She has 2 daughters one attended Foothill Tech and the other attended Ventura High School. They are now both off to college. Dr. Fowell's husband is also a veterinarian.

    Dr. Fowell lives with numerous pets including cats, dogs, fish, a tortoise, a box turtle, rabbits and guinea pigs.

    Dr. Fowell's professional interest include surgery, opthamology and small mammals, ( ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and others).

    In her free time she enjoys gardening, hiking, skiing, cooking and bike riding, (she rides her bike to work 3 or 4 times a week)

    Dr. Fowell received her Bachelor of Science from The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California at Davis (UCD).
  • Nancy J. Bohman, D.V.M.

    Dr. Bohman was born and raised in beautiful Southern California. She has 2 children, a son (Ian) and daughter (Morgan) that keep her running. Dr. Bohman's husband is an oral surgeon practicing in Ventura.

    Her pets include a black lab named Gurdy, 2 bunnies, Charlie and BunBun, a cat named Mengi and a tank full of fish.

    Dr. Bohman's professional interests include dentistry, internal medicine and dermatology.

    Her free time is spent traveling, scuba diving, walking her dog, skiing, swimming, and volunteering at her kids school.

    Dr. Bohman received her Bachelor of Science from Cal Poly at Pomona and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University, (ISU).
  • Amy Pelayo, D.V.M.

    Dr. Pelayo was born and raised in Simi Valley and her family still resides there.

    Her pets include 2 hand raised cats (Little Jay and Talula), and 2 dogs Sky an Australian Shepherd and the newest addition an Australian Cattle Dog named Ozzie.

    Dr. Pelayo's professional interests include surgery, and general practice, (because you get a little of everything).

    Her interests include camping, biking, and spending time with family and friends.

    Dr. Pelayo received her Registered Veterinary Technician License from Pierce College Los Angeles and Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinay Medicine degrees from University of California at Davis (UCD)
  • Michael A Martinez DVM


    Dr. Martinez was born and raised in the seaside city of Oxnard.

    He has 4 cats named Boo, Baxter, Chester and Lindsay.

    Dr. Martinez's professional interests include anesthesiology, soft tissue surgery and radiology.

    His interests include music recording, performing with his acoustic guitar, singing and yoga. His most recent appearance singing was at the Canyon opening for the " Blue Sky Riders" featuring Mr. Kenny Loggins.

    Dr. Martinez received his Bachelor Of Science in Biochemistry from the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from University of California at Davis, (UCD).
